Co-led by Dr. Kathryn Johnston (Tanenbaum Institute for Science in Sport, Kinesiology) and Dr. Vianey Leos Barajas (Statistical Sciences, School of the Environment), we are launching a women's sports analytics working group at the University of Toronto.
Our vision is to to partner students, staff and faculty at the University of Toronto with local professional women’s sports teams to learn their research-to-practice priorities and to develop evidence-based recommendations and approaches to help inform and support their work. Starting Winter 2026, we will be launching the working group in collaboration with Lauren Manis, data analyst at the Toronto Tempo.
Who can join? We are looking for enthusiastic students, staff and faculty who are excited about contributing to local professional women's sports teams. Folks with a very quantitative background are welcome, even if they do not have extensive sports (this term, basketball) knowledge. Similarly, sport science researchers with less quantitative backgrounds are also welcome. We would like to build an interdisciplinary group that leverages strengths across multiple disciplines.
